Helping a Vic community health provider take charge of their technology

Over the past two years working with us, healthcare organisation Nexus Primary Health has matured their technology and telco ecosystem through vendor and service reviews, and ongoing strategic advisory.

"We needed to benchmark where we were as an organisation; understanding our needs, reviewing our vendor relationships and doing a deep dive on our telco services". –Briony Gatt, Infrastructure Manager, Nexus Primary Health

About Nexus Primary Health

Nexus Primary Health is a Victorian healthcare provider, delivering a broad range of health and community services to individuals and families in the communities of Mitchell, Murrindindi and Strathbogie Shires, and beyond. Through general medical care, allied health services, mental health care, and alcohol and other drug services, they aim to improve the health and wellbeing of people in the community by providing accessible, affordable, and comprehensive health services.

Projects and services

In November 2021 we kicked off with a technology and telecommunications review, to help Nexus source the best solutions and partners in technology. Our benchmarking and assessment process provided a view of service improvements, cost reductions, in addition to some tactical and strategic direction.

In March the following year we conducted a Request for Proposal (RFP) to help them identify and select an Managed Service Provider (MSP) that was better aligned with their current size and complexity.

Around the same time, we also began providing ongoing support and strategic guidance through our CIO-as-a-Service. Assisting the team at Nexus to implement the roadmap that emerged from the recently completed MSP and Telco Review.

Later that year we commenced the process of moving them to VTS – a telco charity pricing construct – handling the discussions with their vendor and negotiating the details of transition.

Outcome

Throughout our engagement with Nexus Primary Health, our focus has been on ongoing sound strategic guidance, bolstering internal IT capability and meaningful project outcomes.

"Dog and Bone is always honest and open, communicating clearly and without fluff. Their guidance and direction allowed us to secure an MSP more closely aligned with our needs. They’ve also helped us to navigate the complexities of VTS transitions, and advocating on our behalf with the vendor". –Briony Gatt
